About the Symposium

About ISCO

Through focused lectures, expert perspectives, and interactive discussions, participants will gain practical insights into both established practice and evolving approaches across the spectrum of pediatric orthopaedics. Designed to combine academic depth with clinical relevance, the meeting aims to create a dynamic platform for learning, critical discussion, and exchange of experience among colleagues from around the world.

Beyond traditional faculty-led lectures, the program is designed around interaction, clinical reasoning, and shared problem-solving. Participant case presentations will be integrated throughout the meeting, creating a dynamic forum where real-world challenges can be discussed with internationally renowned faculty.

Combining academic excellence with practical relevance, the meeting will offer an engaging platform for learning, debate, exchange of experience, and collaborative decision-making across the full spectrum of pediatric orthopaedics.

The Controversy Session

Sixty minutes, four arguments, no consensus required

Each 60-minute controversy block runs as four 15-minute fireside debates. The clock is strict and identical for every debate:

  • 2 minutes — framing the question
  • 4 minutes — pro position
  • 4 minutes — con position
  • 3 minutes — moderated crossfire
  • 2 minutes — audience poll and take-home message

There are two controversy blocks in the programme — eight debates in total, covering guided growth, DDH after walking age, CP hip displacement, limb reconstruction, early-onset scoliosis, pediatric ACL injuries, unstable SCFE, and the extent of pediatric trauma fixation.

Who should attend

Pediatric orthopedic surgeons, general orthopedic surgeons treating children, fellows and residents in training, and allied professionals working in pediatric musculoskeletal care. The case-based format is designed to be useful at every level of experience — the debates assume you already know the standard answer and want to know why it is contested.

A welcome letter from the organising committee will be published here once the committee is finalised.
